Publish: Export, Reader, and Beta

Publish is where the book leaves the desk. Select an active book, then open Publish on the book path.

Make it real (exports)​

In the Make it real card, pick a format:

  • EPUB: reflowable e-book
  • PDF: fixed layout
  • Word: editable .docx manuscript
  • Plain text: a .txt file

Exports run in the background. When the file is ready, a message appears with a Download button, and the file also waits in the Jobs menu (the clipboard icon in the top bar). The notification bell is for comments and other activity, not for exports. For more formats, see Exporting.

Reader​

Click Open in Reader in the beta readers card (or Open the reader in the tip at the top of the page, when it is showing) to read your book the way a reader will. See Reading mode.

Beta readers​

In the Reader & share with beta readers card, click Invite a beta reader to create a private guest link, then read the notes readers leave in the beta feedback inbox below it. Only workspace owners and admins can invite beta readers. See Guest links.

Share your book​

The Share your book card is free on every plan. Pick a Card style, write your post under Your post, then open it on a social network with one of the network buttons, Copy the post, or Save the card to download it as a web page file. Tick Show this book on my author site to list the book on your author site (see Author Site).
