How to Format Text, Headings, and Lists in the Editor
The WriteinaClick writing canvas supports rich text formatting so you can style your prose, add structure, and organize your manuscript. Open Write and use the toolbar and the Format menu at the top of the editor.
Available Formatting Options
Text Styles
- Bold: Emphasize important words or phrases
- Italic: For thoughts, emphasis, or titles
- Underline: Additional emphasis (use sparingly)
- Strikethrough: Mark text for deletion or revision
Headings
Headings help structure your document. Choose Heading 1 to Heading 6 (or Normal text / Paragraph to go back) from Format > Paragraph styles, or from More > Styles in the toolbar:
- Chapter titles: Often use the top-level heading
- Section breaks: Use subheadings within chapters
Lists
- Numbered list - Numbered items (1, 2, 3)
- Bulleted list - Bullet points
Both are in the Format menu.
Use lists for outlines, notes, or any content that benefits from a list format.
Text Alignment
You can align paragraphs from Format > Alignment, or More > Alignment in the toolbar:
- Left: Default for most prose
- Center: For titles or special passages
- Right: For specific layout needs
- Justify: Even margins on both sides
How to Apply Formatting
Select the text you want to format, then click Bold, Italic, Underline or Strikethrough in the toolbar, or pick a style from the Format menu. To see every formatting control in the toolbar at once, choose View > Show full ribbon.
