How to Configure Your Book Settings

Every book has settings that help Robin understand your project and help you keep your manuscript organized. Open them any time from the top navigation.

Opening Book settings

  • Click Book settings in the top navigation, or in Write choose File > Book Settings.
  • On mobile, open Actions (⋯) → Book settings.

Book settings opens as a page with a short sidebar (web) or a grouped list (mobile). You see one section at a time. The default section is Book (title, cover, and genres), not Momentum.

Book (default)

Title, type, author, description, language, cover, and genres live here.

  • Book Title - The name of your manuscript. Changing it updates it everywhere.
  • Book Type - Fiction or Non-Fiction.
  • Author Name - Your name or pen name, used in exports.
  • Description: A synopsis or blurb so Robin understands what the book is about.
  • Language - Affects Robin, proofreading, and spell check.
  • Cover: Optional image for your shelf and exports.
  • Genres - Main Genre, optional sub-genres, and Genre Details (Optional).

Use Save on each block you change (identity and genres save separately).

Supported languages

WriteinaClick supports books written in:

  • English (US, UK, Australian, Canadian)
  • Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Dutch
  • Polish, Swedish, Romanian, Czech, Hungarian
  • Turkish, Indonesian, Swahili, Vietnamese
  • Hebrew, Arabic, Persian, Urdu

Robin responds in your book's language automatically.

English variants

For English books, pick your dialect in the Language list: English (US), English (UK), English (Australia) or English (Canada). That affects spelling corrections and phrasing suggestions.

Language-specific tools

  • Proofreading - Grammar and spelling in your book's language, run from Edit.
  • Spell check - Misspellings are underlined as you write. Turn it on or off with Spell check in the Write toolbar.

Voice

Choose a Narrative Voice for this book, or click New Voice to create one, then Save. Manage your full voice library from the Voices link. The voice provides audience, tone, and style for what Robin drafts.

Series

Keep the book standalone, or add it to a series and set its place in reading order. Manage series from Series.

Goals

Set optional targets for this book:

  • Target word count
  • Target chapter count
  • Finish-by date

These feed Book Journey progress in Write, and this tab also estimates your finish date. Leave word count blank to use the suggested default for your genre. Click Save to keep your changes.

Momentum

Progress, streak, and pace for this book, a readout rather than a form. Open it from the Book settings sidebar, or in Write choose Tools > Momentum. It is not the default landing section. See Momentum.

Freeze

Freeze the manuscript when you need the text locked (for example during proofreading). Freeze is last in the list because it is rare and high-stakes. On mobile, freeze controls also appear under Collaboration.

Mobile extras

On mobile only, Book settings also includes:

  • Collaboration: sharing and freeze controls for co-authors
  • Sync: offline sync for this book
  • Danger zone: trash this book

Tips

  • Keep the description and genres current; they improve Robin's suggestions.
  • Change Voice when the book's tone shifts; you do not need to visit it every session.
  • Prefer Goals over guessing word counts in your head; Journey progress stays honest.
