How to Customize Your WriteinaClick Settings
Customize WriteinaClick to match your workflow and preferences. Open the user menu (your avatar, top right) and choose Settings.
User Settings Overview
Settings are organized into sections in the sidebar:
- Account - Profile and Billing
- Preferences - Appearance, Accessibility, Notifications and The November Room
- More - Ink & Rewards and Help
- Danger zone - delete your account
Click a section in the sidebar to switch between them.
Writing Language
The language of your manuscript is set per book, in Book settings under Language. It affects proofreading, spell check, and what Robin suggests. See Book Settings.
Auto-Correct Settings
Auto-correct fixes common typos and formatting as you type. It is set per book: in Write, open Tools > Auto-Correction Preferences. You can turn each rule on or off, grouped under Smart Formatting, Capitalization, and Spacing & Quick Fixes (for example Capitalize new sentences or Single space after punctuation). Changes are saved for that book automatically.
Celebration Settings
Celebrations are visual and audio effects that mark writing milestones. In Write, open Tools > Confetti & Celebrations. You can control:
- Enable Celebrations - Turn celebrations on or off.
- Celebration Intensity - How much fanfare each celebration gets.
- Play celebration sounds - Optional sound effects.
- Use haptic feedback - A gentle vibration on supported devices.
- Active Confetti Style - The look of the confetti.
- Show session goal tracker and Show book journey - Whether these appear while you write.
Adjust these to match your preference. Some writers love the feedback; others prefer a quieter experience.
Theme Preferences
Choose how the app looks from the theme button in the top bar:
- Light - Light background, dark text.
- Dark - Dark background, light text.
Editor themes you own from the Ink store appear in the same menu. Changes apply immediately.
Appearance
The Appearance section sets fonts and reading comfort for your writing space:
- Font Family - Choose a typeface, including OpenDyslexic.
- Font Size - Adjust the base text size.
- Line Spacing - Increase spacing between lines to reduce visual crowding.
- Upload Custom Fonts - Upload your own font files.
These controls work once Enable Accessibility Features is on in the Accessibility section.
Accessibility
The Accessibility section lets you adapt the app's display and behavior to your needs:
- Enable Accessibility Features - Turn all accessibility enhancements on or off.
- Show Accessibility Panel - Display the accessibility control panel.
- Auto-apply OS Preferences - Automatically apply your system's accessibility settings.
- High Contrast Mode - Increases color contrast for better readability.
- Reduced Motion - Minimizes animated transitions and effects.
- Screen Reader Mode - Enhanced focus indicators for screen readers.
- Reset to Defaults - Restore all accessibility settings.
Changes apply across the app immediately.
Font Upload
If you want to write in a font that isn't available by default, you can upload your own:
- Go to Settings > Appearance and find Upload Custom Fonts. (Turn on Enable Accessibility Features in Accessibility first.)
- Select one or more font files from your computer and upload them.
- Supported formats: TTF, OTF, WOFF, WOFF2.
Your uploaded fonts are listed under the upload control, where you can also remove them.
The November Room
The November Room section holds the choices you want to make before you walk into a room:
- Your name in The November Room: the name other writers see. Leave it empty and you appear under a name the app picked for you.
- Take part in the word race: off unless you turn it on. With it off you are never ranked against anyone.
- Hide my word count: you still appear in the room and still count toward the room total; only your own number is hidden.
- Rooms that remind you: a reminder ten minutes before a room opens, at most two a day from all rooms together.
How often the app may notify you at all stays in Notifications, not here. See Sprint Rooms for how the rooms themselves work.
Email Notifications
In Settings > Notifications, control which emails WriteinaClick sends you. All Email Notifications turns all emails on or off; when it is on, each category has its own toggle:
- Product Updates & Announcements: New features and improvements to the app.
- Writing Tips & Inspiration: Writing tips, prompts, and occasional guidance emails.
- Blog Post Notifications: Notified when new blog posts are published.
- Activity Digest: A summary of your recent writing activity.
- Newsletter: The WriteinaClick newsletter.
- Announcement Mentions: Email when someone shares an announcement with you directly from inside the app (for example a teammate pointing you at a specific post). Broadcast announcements still follow Product Updates & Announcements.
Turn off any category you don't want. Changes take effect immediately.
The same section also has Push Notifications for the mobile app: Reminders to write & research and Celebrations & rewards, each set to Off, Normal or Fewer.
When new announcements arrive, you may see a What's new dialog after signing in. Closing it marks those posts as seen so they do not pop up again as a batch; you can always read past posts from your notification bell or by opening the What's New page.
