Robin, your co-author
WriteinaClick's Robin is named Robin. They're available everywhere you write (in the web app, on iPhone, and on Android), and they always work the same way: read the manuscript first, respond as a fellow writer, never as a service desk.
Robin is always optional. You don't have to enable anything; you don't have to use them. When you do, here's what they can help with.
What Robin can do
- Chat about your story. Ask a question about a character's motivation, a chapter's pacing, or whether a passage is landing. Robin has read the chapter you're in.
- Take on a skill. Hand Robin a reusable behavior (a beta reader, a continuity editor, a tough questioner) and keep that lens for a whole conversation. See Skills below.
- Suggest edits. On the web, switch the chat to Edit Mode, highlight a passage, and ask for a tighter version, a different tone, or a translation into a character's voice. Robin's suggestion appears inside your chapter and changes nothing until you keep it.
- Proofread. From Edit, run chapters or the whole book through a grammar, spelling, and style pass. Suggestions come back as a list and you apply or dismiss each one.
- Match your voice. When asked to generate or rewrite, Robin reads your voice profile so the output sounds like you.
- Help with continuity. Robin can pull facts from your story hub (worlds, characters, places) when answering questions about your book.
What Robin won't do
- Speak for you in marketing or social media without you asking.
- Change your manuscript silently. Every edit is reviewable.
- Refer to themselves as a service or a tool. Robin is a fellow writer.
- Cheerlead. Light encouragement is fine; effusive praise isn't their voice.
Skills
A skill is a reusable behavior you hand Robin at the start of a chat. Rather than re-explaining the kind of feedback you want, you pick a skill once and Robin holds that lens for the whole conversation: reading like a first reader, interrogating your premise, or checking for contradictions across your series.
Skills are talk-only: Robin discusses your book through the chosen lens and never edits your text while one is active. A skill locks to a chat after your first message, so to change skills you start a new chat. Every workspace ships with a built-in set, and members with editing permissions can write and share their own.
The behavior is identical on web and mobile. See Web → Robin Book Skills and Mobile → Robin Book Skills for the steps on each platform.
Where to find them
- Web: the assistant panel slides in from the right edge of the Write canvas. See Web → Chat with Robin.
- Mobile: the assistant lives in a bottom sheet you open from Write. See Mobile → Robin Book Skills and Mobile → Write.
