How to Edit Multiple Chapters at Once (Book Mode)
Book mode shows all chapters in one scrollable document in Write. You can move through your entire manuscript without switching views. Chapters flow one after another.
To switch to book mode, click the book icon at the right of the chapter title bar (Book View - All Chapters when you hover it).
How Book Mode Works
In book mode, the writing canvas displays every chapter in sequence. You scroll through the full book as a single document. Each chapter appears as a distinct section, but they're all visible in one continuous view.
When you navigate (e.g., by clicking a chapter in the sidebar), the canvas scrolls to that chapter and shifts focus there. The document does not swap; all chapters remain loaded. You keep your place and context across the whole book.
Navigating and Focusing Within Book Mode
- Scroll: Move through chapters naturally by scrolling up or down
- Chapter navigation: Jump to a specific chapter; the canvas scrolls to it and focuses that section
- Context preserved: Your position, selections, and UI state stay consistent as you move between chapters
Because the full document is always present, you can quickly reference earlier or later chapters without leaving the current view.
When to Use Book Mode
Choose book mode when you want flow and big-picture context:
- Drafting across chapters: Write passages that span or reference multiple chapters
- Continuity checks: Scroll back to verify names, details, or timeline
- Structural overview: See how chapters fit together and adjust pacing
- Seamless flow: Move from one chapter to the next without changing views
If you prefer to work on a single chapter at a time with a focused, isolated view, use Chapter Mode instead.
