Write: Draft Your Manuscript

Write is where you draft. Open it from the book path with an active book selected. In the docs, "open Write" means this destination; "editor" means the writing canvas itself.

Layout​

  • Sidebar: acts and chapters; reorder when allowed; word counts.
  • Canvas - chapter title, previous/next navigation, Chapter vs Book view, save status, word counts.
  • Tools - the menu bar (File, Edit, View, Format, Tools, Help) and toolbar: formatting, find, Spell check, Versions, Listen, Ask Robin, and structure (add act or chapter). Proofreading runs in Edit.
  • Story Hub: open from the sidebar when you need reference without leaving the draft.

Drafting​

  1. Pick a chapter in the sidebar (or add one).
  2. Type in the canvas; changes autosave.
  3. Use Chapter view for focus or Book view for multi-chapter flow. See Chapter mode and Book mode.

Open Ask Robin from Write for manuscript-aware chat and suggestions. Robin never changes your text on their own; you decide what lands. Voice profiles improve results. See Set up voice.
