Writing Voices on Mobile
A writing voice tells Robin how you write, so what Robin drafts sounds like you. For what a voice is and how Robin uses it, see Voice Profiles.
Attach a voice to a book
- In Write, tap Actions (...) and choose Book settings.
- In the Voice section, pick a voice under Writing voice, or choose No voice.
- Tap Save changes.
From the same section you can tap + Create new voice or Manage voices. When you create a book, you can also pick a voice or create a new one as part of setting it up.
Your voice library
Tap Manage voices to open Voices. It lists Your voices and Global voices, and you can use Search voices to filter by name, description, style, or tone.
- Tap a voice to edit it.
- Press and hold one of your voices for Edit or Move to Trash.
Global voices come with WriteinaClick. You can attach them to a book, but you cannot edit or trash them.
Create or edit a voice
- Tap + Create new voice (or open one of your voices).
- Fill in Name, and optionally Description, Audience, Style, and Tone.
- Under Samples, tap Add sample and paste a passage of your own writing. Give it an optional title and pick a Category.
- Tap Save.
A voice needs a name and at least one sample. The Samples heading shows how many samples you have and how many words they add up to; 3 to 20 samples is recommended, and 20 is the most a voice can hold. Each sample shows its own word count, so you can see when it is long enough.
Creating and editing voices needs an internet connection, and you need permission to edit voices in the workspace.
Trash and restore a voice
- Press and hold a voice, tap Move to Trash, then Trash. Books that use it keep working; the voice is simply detached from them.
- To bring it back, tap the trash icon at the top of Voices to open Trashed voices, tap the voice, and choose Restore.
Only the workspace owner can choose Delete forever. Trashed voices also appear in Trash.
