Story Hub on Mobile
The Story Hub is the structured reference space attached to a book. It's where you keep continuity straight: the rules of your world, your characters' arcs, the geography of your places, your special vocabulary, and any notes, maps, or timeline events you want at hand.
The mobile Story Hub is the same data as the web Story Hub. Add a character on your laptop, see it on your phone five seconds later.
The eight categories
- Story World: geography, culture, history, the rules that govern your setting.
- Characters: names, roles, motivations, voices, arcs.
- Places: locations and the atmosphere they carry.
- Glossary: terms and definitions for your story's vocabulary.
- Chapter Notes: notes attached to a specific chapter or act.
- Free Notes: anything that doesn't fit the other categories.
- Maps: an uploaded map image with pins you place and label.
- Timeline: ordered story events arranged on tracks.
Open the Story Hub
From Write, tap Actions (...) (top-right) and pick Story Hub, or pull down from the top of the page. You can also browse Story Hub and save Robin's proposals from the Research tab when a book is selected. On iPhone and iPad, you can also long-press a book on Home and choose Story notes.
Create an entry
Inside any category, tap + to add a new entry. Give it a name, then fill in whatever fields matter. You can save with just a name and add detail later.
Story Map
In Story Hub, choose Maps to attach a visual map.
- Upload or replace a map image (requires an internet connection).
- Tap the map to drop a pin; drag pins to reposition them.
- Give each pin a label and color, and optionally link it to one of your Places.
- Create more than one map per book if your story spans several locations.
Story Timeline
In Story Hub, choose Timeline to lay out the book's events in order.
- Events are grouped into tracks (lanes), for example a main plot and a subplot, or two points of view.
- Add an event with a title, date label, beat, and an optional link to a chapter.
- Move an event to a different track with the lane picker, and nudge it earlier or later with the beat arrows.
Scope: book, series, or workspace
Every entry has a scope that decides where it appears: this book only, every book in the same series, or every book in your workspace. Change the scope from the entry's scope control. When you open a book, entries from all three scopes appear together.
Draft from Book
The Story World, Characters, Places, Glossary, Chapter Notes, and Free Notes lists offer Draft from book. The Timeline screen has Draft from book too, and the Map screen has Draft pins. Tap it and Robin reads your manuscript and proposes new entries. You review the proposals as a checklist, pick the ones you want, and add them. Nothing is added until you choose. If you change your mind straight after, a brief Undo lets you take them back.
Draft flows need an internet connection.
Voice notes
On mobile, you can record a voice note instead of typing. The recording is transcribed automatically into a note you can keep, edit, or move to a Story Hub category. See Voice Notes.
How Robin uses it
When you ask Robin a question about your manuscript, the relevant Story Hub entries are included as context so the answers stay consistent with what you've established. This works the same on every platform.
