Reader Mode on Mobile
Reader mode shows your book the way a reader would experience it: clean typography, comfortable line length, no editing tools in the way. It's a great way to feel whether your prose is landing.
Open reader mode
Open the Publish tab, stay on Finish, and tap Open in Reader. The reader opens where you last stopped reading.
On iPhone and iPad you can also long-press a book on Home and choose Read.
The reader screen
- Top bar: the back arrow, the chapter title, and Aa for reading settings.
- Bottom bar: Prev, the chapter number (for example 3 / 12), Next, and Listen.
The bars stay on screen while you read.
Changing chapters
- Tap Next or Prev in the bottom bar.
- Or swipe left for the next chapter and swipe right for the previous one.
Chapter list
Tap the chapter title in the top bar to open the Chapters list and jump to any chapter. Prologue and epilogue chapters are clearly marked, and act headings appear when your book has two or more acts.
Leaving the reader
Tap the back arrow at the top-left.
Reading position
The reader remembers the chapter and the spot where you left off. The position is saved to your account, so you can pick up on another device.
What's next
