How to Customize Fonts, Themes, and Layout in Reading Mode
Customize Reading Mode to match your preferences. Click the Settings button in the reader toolbar to open Reading Settings, where you can adjust fonts, spacing, and themes.
Font Size
Change the text size to suit your screen and eyesight:
- Use the Font Size slider in Reading Settings.
- Larger sizes help on small screens or when reading for long periods.
- Smaller sizes fit more text on screen.
Your reading settings are saved to your account for future sessions.
Font Family
Under Font Family, choose a font that's easy to read:
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Serif | Traditional book style (e.g., Times, Georgia). Good for long-form reading. |
| Sans | Clean, modern look (e.g., Arial, Helvetica). Often easier on screens. |
| Dyslexic | Fonts designed for readability by people with dyslexia. |
Pick the one that feels most comfortable for you.
Line Height
- Line Height - Use the slider to increase spacing between lines for easier reading. Tighter spacing fits more on screen.
Themes
Reading Mode supports multiple themes:
| Theme | Description |
|---|---|
| Light | White or off-white background. Classic for daytime reading. |
| Dark | Dark background with light text. Easier on the eyes in low light. |
| Sepia | Warm, paper-like tone. Reduces eye strain for some readers. |
Switch themes under Theme & Contrast in Reading Settings. The reader keeps the theme you pick; it does not follow your system theme.
Views and Other Settings
- Views - Switch between Book, Chapter, and Continuous with the buttons in the reader toolbar.
- Book Layout - When you are in the Book view, Reading Settings also shows Book Layout options for the page spread.
- Auto Hide Controls - Turn this On to hide the reader controls while you read.
