How to Add Comments and Track Reading Position

Add inline comments and track your reading position in Reading Mode. These tools help you review, plan revisions, and pick up where you left off.

Adding Comments

While reading, you can attach notes to specific passages:

  1. Select the text you want to comment on.
  2. Click Add Comment in the small toolbar that appears.
  3. Type your note: a reminder, a revision idea, or feedback for yourself. You can use @ to mention a collaborator.
  4. Click Comment. The comment is linked to that passage.

To see comments, click the Toggle Comments button in the reader toolbar. Comments open in a side panel next to the text. They're useful for:

  • Marking passages to revise later
  • Noting plot or continuity questions
  • Capturing ideas for future chapters

Reading Position Tracking

WriteinaClick remembers where you stopped reading:

  • Auto-save position - As you read, your position is saved to your account automatically.
  • Resume - When you open the book in Reading Mode again, you continue from where you left off.

This helps when reading long manuscripts. You don't have to search for your place each time.

Best Practices

  • Use comments for revision notes; they stay with the text when you switch back to Write.
  • Review comments periodically and apply changes or clear notes you've addressed.
