Notifications
The mobile app keeps you in the loop two ways: push notifications delivered to your device, and the in-app notification bell on Home.
Push notifications
The app asks for permission to send notifications after you sign in. With permission on, you can get a push notification for:
- A comment that mentions you, a reply in a thread you're part of, and a thread being resolved or reopened.
- A finished import, a failed import, or a book that is ready.
- A finished proofread, or a Story Hub review that is ready.
- The end of a book's rest period.
- A friend you referred joining.
- Announcements, including one shared with you directly.
- Write-in rooms you follow: starting soon, starting now, and someone joining you. See Write-ins.
You can change the permission later from your device's system settings; the app follows whatever your device allows.
The notification bell
The bell sits at the top of the Home tab, next to the Quick capture button, once you have at least one book. Tap it to open Notifications. Tap a notification to go to the book, chapter, or screen it is about. Unread ones have a dot. Tap Mark all read to clear them all. When there is nothing new you'll see You're all caught up.
The app icon badge on your home screen shows how many unread notifications you have.
Notification settings
Open the Account tab and scroll to the notification sections.
Push notifications
- Reminders to write & research: nudges when you have been away from writing or research.
- Celebrations & rewards: milestones, streaks, and weekly digests.
Set each one to Off, Normal, or Fewer.
Email notifications
- All email notifications turns every email category on or off at once.
- Then choose each category: Product updates, Writing tips, Blog posts, Activity digest, Newsletter, and Announcement mentions (Email me when a teammate shares an announcement directly with me.).
These email settings are saved to your account, so they match the web app. See What's New on Mobile for how in-app announcements behave.
